Big election set for Tuesday, candidates make final pushes

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — A big election is now just days away, as candidates make a final push ahead of Tuesday’s Spring elections.  Up for grabs, a spot on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, several races for circuit court judge, and state superintendent.

In Milwaukee, about a dozen union members volunteered with a phone bank to urge members to hit the polls Tuesday.  Similar phone banks were held all over the state of Wisconsin, by various groups.

The election is a tough one for candidates who are vying for voter’s attentions on the back end of a holiday and opening day.  One volunteer says that is not their only challenge.

” I think people are a little bit tired of the conflict of the politics here in Wisconsin,” says Al Lemke.

Lemke points out the importance of Tuesday’s races, especially on the Supreme Court.

“It could determine the outcome of Act 10,” says Lemke.

Woman thrown from vehicle in rollover crash near Plymouth

SHEBOYGAN CO. (WITI) — A 32-year-old woman was thrown from her vehicle in a rollover crash on Highway 57 near Plymouth on Tuesday afternoon, March 19th.

The wreck happened just after 3 p.m. south of Sumac Rd. on Highway 57 in the Town of Lyndon. Witnesses say the victim’s vehicle was southbound when the driver lost control on the snow-covered and slippery roadway, entered the median and rolled over.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Grafton. From there, she was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

There were two children traveling as passengers in this incident. They were not hurt in the crash.

Investigators tell FOX6 News wind and blowing snow made the roads in some parts of Sheboygan County rather difficult to drive. They say for the most part, the roads are safe. But drivers should be aware of snowy patches that could pose a hazard.

Shooting for the summer TV spot took place in summer 2012 at Plum Lake in Sayner, Wis. It stars actor Robert Hays of “Airplane!” fame, who plays the part of a befuddled fisherman who finds that it doesn’t take a lot of skill to have fun in Wisconsin.

Four Wisconsin women, all former pageant winners, have cameos in the commercial. They are Katie Sawyer of Egg Harbor, Caitlin Machol of Milwaukee, Teaka Griesbach of Combined Locks, and Kristina Schoh of Holmen.

The spot will begin airing this May 2013 in a variety of Midwest markets.
