State Hwy. 33 project update

From the Village of Saukville:

The curbing crews are scheduled to return and stay on site until almost all concrete work is completed in preparation for paving.  There will be additional lane restrictions at Market Street and Northwoods Road in order for the curbing crews to work in these areas.  With a few exceptions, all storm sewer work will be done next week.  It is still anticipated to begin paving the first week of May.

Please note that STH 33 will be closed the evenings of April 23rd and 24th from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.  The closure will affect only the area between the I43 ramps.  Vehicles will be able to right turn off or on to I43 during this time.  Only emergency responders will be allowed through.

As always, motorists are cautioned to watch for flagmen, dump trucks, and heavy equipment leaving and entering the work zone.

The I43 overpass work is underway.  They will be driving piles for the extended center piers starting this week.  There is also work being done along I43 to the north to accommodate lane changes for the STH 57 and railroad crossing bridge re-decking.  Motorists are cautioned that the speed limit along this section of I43 is temporarily reduced to 55 mph for the duration of the construction. Because it is a work zone, fines will double and the State Patrol is placing additional emphasis on patrolling this section.

Questions about the I43 project can be directed to the field office at 262-268-0059.

From the Village of Saukville:

Work will begin on the I43 overpasses over STH 33 this week.  This project will run concurrently with the STH 33 project with coordination between the two.  The work will include removing and replacing the decks of both structures with wider ones.  Both northbound and southbound ramps will be kept operational other than the planned closures as part of the STH 33 project.  There will be two separate planned overnight closures of STH 33 to facilitate the demolition work.  Those dates will be posted when the schedules are known.   The interstate will remain open throughout the project.

Regarding the STH 33 project, the contractor will be working on pavement removal and grading in the Village.  The storm sewer crews are planned to return the first week of April, the curbing crews the week of April 16, and the paving crew the first week of May.
